Peebles Community Council needs your help with the Peebles in Bloom competition this summer. There are many beautiful gardens in Peebles,
and we feel it is important to recognise all the hard work which goes into making this town such an attractive place to live in and to visit, so we'd hate to miss any!
In July Community Councillors will walk all around the town looking at front gardens and business premises in order to produce a list of gardens and displays that they feel
are worthy of consideration – so don’t worry if you see someone studying your garden and making notes on a clipboard, it’s probably just one of us!
Then there is a review to create a short list followed by a tour by independent judges who make the final decisions.
We need the public’s help with 2 aspects (contact details below)
- If you know of a front garden which is really special then please tell us. That way we can be sure we won’t miss any.
- We need to be told about any ‘Secret Gardens’ – as they cannot be seen from the pavement, such as the ones hiding behind stone walls, high hedges and fences.
The Secret Gardens category is just one of ten categories. The others are Very Small Garden, Small Garden, Medium Garden, Large Garden, All Year Round Garden,
Business Premises, Courtyard Garden, Best Street and Community Garden. There will be a trophy for the best Community Garden this year, as well as the usual certificate,
thanks to the generosity of Garry Rennie of Peebles Auction House.
The prize giving will be in the Burgh Hall on 15th August and this year's event promises to be quite different.
We will be in touch shortly with last year’s winners in order to collect in the trophies.
