The Community Council received a presentation from James Renwick, Development Project Manager and Amanda Miller, Director of Community Services of Eildon Housing regarding the Caledonian Court development in Peebles (formerly Tweedbridge Court).
The proposed development comprises 22 new homes across two blocks, including a mix of three-bedroom lower colony houses and two-bedroom upper flats. The scheme will incorporate energy efficient features such as air source heat pumps and electric heating, alongside EV charging provision and cycle storage to support local initiatives.
Members were advised that construction is progressing well and is expected to be completed in September 2026, with a community open day planned prior to tenant occupation.
Members also heard details of the proposed allocation arrangements, which will be managed through a Local Lettings Plan prioritising applicants with a connection to the Tweedale (Peebles High School catchment) area. The allocation split will include provision for applicants with critical housing need, existing Eildon tenants requiring to move, and those with lower priority needs such as overcrowding or downsizing. It was noted that demand for housing locally remains high.
Although technical issues prevented the slides from being displayed at the meeting, the representatives delivered the presentation verbally and responded to questions.
